Correspondant # 1182

It is with a heavy heart that our Voyageur Roger Gardner, member of Cortland Post 540 and member of our Voiture, Voiture # 1182, passed away in the early morning hours, Sunday, 3 February 2024.  Roger was in Windsor House Memory Care Unit in Champion, Ohio and was under the watchful eyes of Hospice care.  Roger spent many years traveling to Wade Park (22 years) providing bingo for our veterans there.  He led the Trumbull County Honor Guard to fulfill almost 3000 funerals with full military hours.  Roger would have been 95 years old next month. He was inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame.  Roger will be missed by many.  Rest in peace Roger.  Your duty is done.  RIP.

I will place information relative to our Locale, it's members and associated activities on this page.  Please read through the information placed here to keep up on those things that affect us here at #1182.  I will be sending out reminders of activites that may get lost over time and in between Promenades.  Have an idea for the page, let me know, all is welcomed.  Thank you.

It is with sadness that I have been notifed of the passing of Chef de Gare Passe William Conrad.  Bill had been in the hospital and transferred to Washington Square Nursing home.  Bill passed away on Saturday, 14 October 2023.  Bill was born March 20th, 1946.  Graduating from Kent State University with a major in political science.  He was a member of Saint Mary's Church and a Navy Veteran serving on the USS Bache.  He worked 30 years at Packard Electric.

Additionally, Bill served at the Grande Du Ohio as Grande Chef de Gare and followed serving as the

aide to Chef de Chemin de Fer Frank Kronen.  He leaves behind his wife Debbie A. Odell Conrad and 6 children. Bill's final resting place is Pine Knoll Cemetery in Warren, Ohio.
